Resident and Staff Updates

COVID Update as of 09/14/2023

The information below is updated regularly to help ensure residents, family, and the community are kept up to date on our current COVID-19 status. In the event of a positive case, we protect our healthy residents and team members by immediately isolating residents with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. In addition, team members with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are directed to stay at home until they are fully recovered.

Visitation Information

Upon Arrival:

  • Wash and/or sanitize hands
  • Comply with screening
  • Do not enter the building unless directed
  • Review Visitor guidelines
  • Wear face mask
  • Wait for further instructions
  • Follow Core Principles of COVID-19 infection prevention
  • Sign-In log attesting that you have read and reviewed the visitor guidelines and COVID-19 education and agree to comply.
  • Maintain social distancing. The visitation area is marked to assist you.
  • Avoid touching your face or adjusting your mask. If you note that this has occurred, sanitize your hands using the sanitizing station.
  • Visitors may bring food or drink that meets the resident’s diet consistency /texture per physician’s order and cannot be shared. The visitor may bring water for personal use, but must not share.
  • All visitors should wear appropriate facial covering during the visit and should maintain 6-ft. physical distancing. Fully vaccinated visitors and fully vaccinated residents may have brief, limited physical contact such as a brief hug, holding hands, or grooming.
  • Surfaces will be sanitized between visits to reduce the risk of exposure or transmission of COVID-19.

If visitor guidelines are not observed, staff may provide redirection or terminate visits to reduce the risk of exposure or transmission of COVID-19.

Outdoor visitation is contingent upon weather. If inclement weather exists, the visit will be rescheduled.

  • Visitors must agree to answer all screening questions and have their temperature read. If the visitor triggers yes for any screening questions or has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 infection in the prior 14 days (regardless of vaccination status) the visit will not occur to reduce the spread/exposure to COVID-19. Visitors are encouraged to perform antigen tests prior to indoor visits. It is not required to be tested or vaccinated in order to visit.
  • Activity Staff/Designated Staff will accompany the resident during the visit, keeping with the 6 feet social distancing guidelines. Visits are limited to 1 visitor at a time visit per resident per day. The facility encourages families to limit the frequency of visitations in order to accommodate for all residents to have visitations with their families.
Core Principals of COVID-19 Infection Prevention
  • Screening of all who enter the center for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., temperature checks, questions or observations about signs or symptoms), and denial of entry of those with signs or symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle ache, shortness of breath, nausea/ vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite taste or smell. Or who exhibit signs and symptoms or who have had close contact with someone with COVID-19 infection in the prior 14 days (regardless of the visitor’s vaccination status).
  • Hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred).
  • Face covering or mask (covering mouth and nose).
  • Social distancing at least six (6) feet between persons.
  • Instructional signage throughout the center and proper visitor education on COVID-19 signs and symptoms, infection control precautions, and other applicable center practices (e.g., use of face-covering or mask, specified entries, exits, routes to designated areas, and hand hygiene).
  • Cleaning and disinfecting high-frequency touched surfaces at the facility often, and designated visitation areas after each visit.
  • Appropriate staff use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Effective cohorting of patients (e.g., separate areas dedicated to COVID-19 care).
  • Patient and staff testing was conducted as required.
  • The use of physical barriers can further reduce the risk of transmission.
COVID-19 Information and Precautions

We recognize that nursing homes and assisted living facilities are at high risk for contracting and spreading infectious diseases including COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019). Our utmost concern is for the health and well-being of each of our residents and to ensure our staff is healthy and able to continue to care for residents.

We continue to take cautionary measures and follow CDC guidelines. We are also receiving information from state and local officials. Please review this information and see the precautions we are taking to protect against COVID-19.

The measures we are taking include:

Clear and constant communication with staff, residents, and visitors

  • Posting signs and reminders at the facility
  • Communicating verbal answers from staff to residents and visitors
  • Posting information on our website

Protection with our workforce includes:

  • Screening employees and residents for symptoms of acute respiratory illness (fever, cough, difficulty breathing)
  • Sick leave policies are non-punitive and flexible
  • Encouraging sick employees to stay home and call in replacement staff
  • Training and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Protection of our residents includes:

  • Separating residents who show respiratory symptoms away from others
  • No field trips and activities outside the facility
  • Having activities that allow residents to maintain safe distances from others
  • Allowing for in-room dining reduces the risk of spreading disease
  • Increasing cleaning in common areas (therapy rehabilitation area, dining area, activity area, lobby area, etc.)

Protection of all visitors, vendors, and deliveries includes:

  • Restriction of all visitors (only “end of life” exceptions made)
  • Restriction of all vendors (attention to social distancing recommendations)
  • Encouraging family and friends to reach out socially (via phone call, video conferencing) to residents to help with feelings of loneliness and isolation
